Get to Know Local Series – Allegro Knoxville Music Studio

in Business

This series focuses on getting to know the people behind Knoxville area businesses!

Let’s get to know the people behind Allegro Knoxville Music Studio, 3025 Sanders Drive, 37918 in the Fountain City area:

Susan Hammett-rhea is the owner and has taught music for 36 years. Two of her adult children are also teachers at the studio, having each taught music for over 10 years.

Susan started her music studio so that she could teach others the joy of learning how to play music. Believing every student can be successful in music, she creates a learning plan specific to each student.

She has witnessed children learning music becoming stronger academically.

Susan says, “Learning music supports muscle development, fine motor skills, as well as hand-eye coordination. It provides a sense of achievement, improves social skills, builds confidence, inspires creativity, and teaches patience. It is a great form of expression, teaches discipline, and makes kids feel good about themselves. It can be a great stress and anxiety reliever.”

“Music lessons are not just for children, but also for adults, with many benefits, such as lowering blood pressure and reducing stress. Not everyone can continue to play sports as they get older, but music is something that people have continued to play well into their 90’s. Learning music is a social activity that is fun, keeps your mind active, and boosts self-confidence. We have many adults that take lessons. Some have always wanted to take lessons but didn’t get to when they were younger; others took lessons when they were kids and regretted stopping.”

“Just as we as teachers at Allegro Knoxville Music Studio are family, our students become family to us as well! Many times, students like to share how their day/week went at the beginning of their lessons, and we love to hear their news!”

Allegro Knoxville Music Studio has been in business more than 11 years. In June, 2019, they moved into their own studio near Pratt’s Country Store! They teach piano, voice, guitar, harp, ukelele, banjo, mandolin, composition, and music theory. To learn more:
