How community effort towards Knoxville’s winter warming shelters saved live

During last week’s freezing temperatures, hundreds of people were able to stay warm at the City of Knoxville’s warming centers, a measure that one official said saved lives.

Erin Read, the executive director of Knoxville-Knox County Office of Housing Stability, organized the city’s warming centers’ effort.
