January snowstorm comes at high price: How much local agencies spent on response

The City of Knoxville spent more than $1 million on response efforts during January’s snowstorm.

“Much of that was already budgeted, I mean the snow event happened during the week but a lot of that entails salt, fuel, most of it is salaries and labor costs but a lot of overtime and a lot of shifting of responsibilities to respond to this historic event,” City COO Grant Rosenberg said.
