Proposed bill could increase minimum wage to $20 per hour in Tennessee

A new bill introduced to the state senate is asking to raise the current minimum wage in Tennessee from $7.25 an hour to $20 an hour.

“The reality is, that most Tennesseans are not making a living wage,” said co-author of the bill, Representative Gloria Johnson.

Tennessee is one of only seven states in America using the federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
