Tennessee pitcher sets college baseball record with 105.5 mph fastball

A Tennessee pitcher set a college baseball record last weekend when he threw a 105.5 mph fastball, WATE-TV and Sports Illustrated are reporting.

The pitch came during the eighth inning Sunday as Volunteers reliever Ben Joyce faced Cole Foster of the Auburn Tigers, according to WATE. Joyce, a redshirt junior nicknamed the “Volunteer Fireman,” bested his own record to deliver the fastest recorded pitch in the history of college baseball, the news outlets reported.
