Where is all the trash coming from in Knoxville’s creeks? Not from where you’d expect, UT says

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The University of Tennessee’s stormwater department is working alongside volunteers to clean piles of trash that have been collecting in creeks that run through downtown Knoxville.

Clean-up crews have discovered a variety of waste items in the waterways including things like plastic bottles and even a couch. An access point to one of the creeks is currently closed off due to the trash that has piled up.

The school’s stormwater department helps clean the creeks with volunteer events. They’ve been pulling out thousands of pounds of trash in just a few hours.
